Employment Law Attorney (Employer Side)
Position Overview
This role focuses primarily on serving businesses with proactive counseling, risk management, and defense of employment-related claims. You will advise business owners and leadership teams on compliance, workplace policies, and personnel decisions, and represent clients in administrative proceedings and litigation when disputes arise.
You will serve as a trusted advisor to employer clients and work collaboratively with attorneys across the firm to deliver practical, business-oriented solutions.
What You’ll Do
Advisory Responsibilities
- Counsel employers on compliance with federal and state employment laws
- Advise on hiring, discipline, termination, wage and hour, leave laws, and workplace investigations
- Draft and review employment agreements, handbooks, policies, and severance agreements
- Provide proactive risk management guidance to minimize litigation exposure
- Support business clients with strategic HR decision-making
Litigation Responsibilities
- Defend employers in administrative proceedings (EEOC, state agencies, etc.)
- Represent clients in state and federal court employment litigation
- Manage cases from initial assessment through resolution
- Conduct discovery, draft motions, take and defend depositions
- Negotiate settlements and represent clients in mediation
Client & Practice Development
- Serve as primary relationship attorney for assigned clients
- Communicate clearly and strategically with business owners and leadership teams
- Collaborate with attorneys in business, estate, and real estate practice areas
- Contribute to client education and preventive training initiatives
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice in Washington
- 3+ years of employment law experience
- Experience advising employers on compliance and personnel matters
- Experience handling employment litigation independently
- Strong written advocacy and courtroom skills
- Confident, practical advisor to business decision-makers
Preferred But Not Required
- Experience conducting workplace investigations
- Experience defending wage and hour claims
- Experience in multi-state employer compliance
- Background in business or corporate law
- Admitted to practice in Idaho

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $85,000 – $165,000 (depending on experience and litigation depth)
